Celebrating its 7th year, the Kingsville Folk Music Festival has established itself as one of Southwest Ontario’s summer destination spots for fans and lovers of music ranging from Blues to Bluegrass, Celtic to Country, Roots and Indie. Not to mention a local and winery team favourite.

Good music is wine turned to sound – Ella Wheeler Wilcox

As much of 2020 has brought about unexpected change for us all, we try to stay focused on and support what brings us joy. This is why we teamed up with the Kingsville Folk Festival to bring you this series in support of their incredible dedication to music and our community.

The line includes 3 wines each named for aspects of music that capture some of its magic.

Rockin Red Cabernet Sauvignon – Cabernet Franc VQA

These two varietals are known for their depth, warmth, big feel and spice. Sounds a little like a blend of rock and folk music.

Folk music is classified by the Webster-Merriam dictionary as the traditional music of the people in a country or region. On the other hand, rock music is tougher to find a definition for but is traditionally more “electric” in nature.

“Folk includes styles of music for all folks,” says Michele Law of the Kingsville Folk Festival. “It’s an approachable event to reflect the nature of the music. We keep the stage height a little lower so it creates a more intimate experience for our guests. We want there to be a closeness for all.”

Song Poet Pinot Grigio VQA

Pinot Grigio can play both sweet and mineral upon the palette. Similar to poetry, which is truly at the heart of all songs.

Iconic folk poets include Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Neil Young.

Today you’ll find the voice of the poet in former Kingsville Folk Festival line up artists such as Bruce Coborn, Buffy St.Marie and Alan Doyle.

“Artists are available during daytime to allow the audience to engage with them about their process,” states Law. “The ability to begin conversations is just one of the gifts of song.”

Pelee Island Winery and Kingsville Folk Festival Rhythm Rosé VQA Ontario rosé blush sparkling wine.

Lakeside Rhythm Rosé VQA

Named for the park the festival takes place in and a shout out to the pattern in music that gets us all moving together. Rhythm is a pulse, a movement. Like the rising bubbles in this sparkling rosé.

“We’ve met with festivals across the country online this year and we’re all feeling that out of rhythm and missing the sense of community that festivals bring,” shares Law.

“It’s the audience, echoing the rhythm of the music that weaves the sense of community felt at festivals. We’re very excited to bring a small piece of the festival to our patrons with Pelee Island Winery. We hope it puts a smile on your face and a song in your heart.”
