Pelee Island Half Marathon! Yes, it’s back this year!!! The most southern half marathon in Canada and one of our most favourite events on the Pelee Island calendar. Oh how we’ve missed seeing you all!

Pelee Island Half Marathon

Canada’s most Southern Half-Marathon takes place on Pelee Island smack dab in the middle of the Great Lake Erie. And yes, its finish line is at the end of the pergola path leading into our Pelee Island Winery Pavilion. This exclusive event is limited to approximately 400 participants, who enjoy the beauty of running around this most beautiful and ecologically diverse island, with Aid Stations and Port-A-John approximately every 2K.

The course is measured and certified, as well as timed, surfaced with a mixture of pavement, gravel, and tar and chip. Registration includes a great Wine-inspired Tech Shirt Long Sleeve, award-winning medal, bib, and a ticket to the best After-Run Party in running with Wine Tasting.

Another amazing fact about this unique half marathon. It sells out in less than 34 hours! Learn more here.

Pelee Island Half Marathon with Pelee Island Winery and Running Flat

The Course

The start of the race is located near the winery and travels counterclockwise around the Island, ending inside the Winery. The change allows you to run the last 6Km on the west side of the island with a beautiful view of the water and a cooling predominantly westerly wind.

Community and Camaraderie

We are inspired by the dedication and discipline of the participants as they prepare and run this race. Yet, we admit, what we love most about the Pelee Half Marathon is the community and camaraderie that occurs on the island during the event.

Locals and visitors line the route to cheer on the runners with refreshments as well as signs and cheers of encouragement. Then all meet back at the Winery Pavilion to welcome the runners to the finish line and celebrate their victories.

We love seeing where the Pelee Island Half Marathon draws people from. In 2019, we made this video to capture some of the place near and far that participants traveled from to be a part of this event.

Pelee Island has a way of turning strangers to friends faster than the winner crosses the finish line. We can’t wait to welcome all participants and guests on Saturday, June 4th.

Cheers!
